Izomnövekedés, commonly referred to as muscle growth or hypertrophy, is the process by which skeletal muscles increase in size. This occurs through an increase in the size of individual muscle fibers, rather than an increase in the number of muscle fibers. The primary stimulus for muscle growth is resistance training, which involves working the muscles against a load that challenges them. This stress causes microscopic damage to the muscle fibers. In response to this damage, the body initiates a repair and rebuilding process. During this recovery period, the muscle fibers are repaired and, in the process, become larger and stronger to better handle future stress.
Several factors contribute to optimal muscle growth. Progressive overload is crucial, meaning that the muscles must
