Izomlökéshez refers to a phenomenon in veterinary medicine, specifically concerning horses. It describes a forceful, involuntary expulsion of the contents of the stomach, commonly known as vomiting. While horses are generally not considered capable of vomiting in the same way as many other mammals due to anatomical differences, particularly the strong cardiac sphincter that prevents regurgitation, izomlökéshez represents an extreme and often pathological exception.

This condition is typically associated with severe underlying health issues. The most common cause is colic, a broad term for abdominal pain in horses. When a horse experiences severe colic, the pressure within the abdominal cavity can increase significantly. In extreme cases, this pressure, combined with other factors like intestinal obstruction or gastric ulcers, can overcome the resistance of the cardiac sphincter, leading to the forceful expulsion of stomach contents.

Furthermore, it is a strong indicator of a very serious, life-threatening condition. Prompt veterinary attention is essential for any horse exhibiting signs suggestive of izomlökéshez, as the underlying cause requires immediate diagnosis and treatment to improve the animal's prognosis.
