It is used by designers and researchers to describe artisanal experiments and algorithmically generated fabrics. Some scholars treat interweeringu as a methodological framework for exploring combinatorial surface design and material hybridity.

Techniques and tools: Interweeringu is commonly realized with multi-axis or computer-assisted looms, including Jacquard and dobby systems, alongside CAD/CAM design pipelines. Techniques include layered interweaving, where one pattern is woven in concert with another, and color interweaving, where different colorways interlace at separate structural levels.
