Interlokkeja is a Finnish term that broadly refers to interlocking systems or mechanisms. In its most common usage, it denotes the safety systems found in railway signaling. These systems are designed to prevent conflicting train movements, ensuring that signals are set correctly to allow a train to proceed only when the track ahead is clear and that points (switches) are set in the desired position. The primary function of railway interlocks is to enhance operational safety and efficiency.
