Injectorsmeter is a diagnostic instrument used to evaluate the performance of fuel injectors in internal combustion engines. It is employed in automotive engineering, research laboratories, and manufacturing settings to assess how much fuel is delivered, when it is delivered, and how the spray behaves, under controlled test conditions. The goal is to ensure injector reliability, optimize engine performance, and support emissions compliance.

A typical injectorsmeter integrates a controlled test bench with a fuel supply, a test injector or bank of injectors, and measurement systems. Key components include pressure sensors, flow sensors or gravimetric flow measurement, current/coil resistance sensors, and timing electronics that capture start and end of injection. Some configurations use high-speed imaging or laser-induced fluorescence to visualize spray characteristics. Data acquisition software records injected volume, injection duration, pulse timing, and corresponding pressures, enabling calculation of mass flow and spray metrics.

Types of injectorsmeters vary by application. Flow-based units quantify total fuel delivered per cycle, while spray-visualization versions focus on spray plume characteristics. Portable, handheld models may provide basic timing and flow measurements for field diagnostics, whereas laboratory-grade instruments offer high precision and comprehensive data logging for development and calibration.

Applications include injector calibration for gasoline and diesel engines, quality control in production lines, and academic research into spray formation and combustion efficiency. Limitations include dependence on test fluid properties, temperature control, and calibration requirements.
