Inatele

Inatele is a fictional island nation used in speculative fiction, tabletop role-playing, and game design. It comprises three main islands—Norra, Suma, and Kial—and a cluster of smaller islets, located in a tropical ocean region of a fictional world. The capital and largest city is Lira, positioned on the southern coast of Norra.

Geography and environment: The archipelago features volcanic highlands, coral reefs, and mangrove coasts. The climate is warm and humid with a pronounced wet season. Biodiversity is high, including several endemic birds and tropical hardwoods. The Inatelian coast is a hub for marine life and fishing.

History and government: Inati people first settled the islands, developing a maritime culture. From the 16th century, external powers contested sovereignty, with the Valaran Empire exercising influence for several decades. Independence was achieved in 1824, and Inatele established a constitutional republic. The National Assembly is unicameral; the president serves as head of state while a prime minister acts as head of government. The judiciary is independent.

Economy and demographics: The population is about 2.1 million. Inatelian is the official language; English and Spanish are widely spoken as second languages. The economy is diversified: tourism, sustainable fishing, agriculture (coconut, cacao), and light manufacturing. The currency is the Inatel.

Culture and notable features: Inatele preserves a rich maritime heritage, with music, crafts, and cuisine reflecting Afro-Indo and coastal influences. Notable sites include the Mist Ridge National Park and the Inatele Channel, a narrow sea passage between Norra and Suma.
