One common example is found in packaging materials. Air-filled packaging, such as bubble wrap or inflatable bags, creates a protective layer of air around fragile items. When the package is subjected to external forces, the air within these pockets compresses, absorbing the energy and preventing it from reaching the contents. This significantly reduces the risk of damage during transit.

In industrial settings, air bearings utilize a thin film of pressurized air to levitate a moving part, such as a spindle or a platform.
