This labeling enables precise referencing, tracking, and synchronization across editing pipelines and archives. The term combines id (azonosító) and keret (frame) with the instrumental suffix -ekkel indicating "with." The concept emerged from needs in media archiving and research data management for high-volume video collections, to facilitate cross-referencing of frames between editors, researchers, and automated processes. It is not a formal international standard; rather it is applied as a practical workflow in selected organizations.

In practice, idkeretekkel can be implemented by attaching metadata to frames or by maintaining an external index. Common approaches include embedding a frame-level metadata track in the container (for example in sidecar JSON or XML files) or generating a separate index file that maps frame numbers to unique IDs and to additional properties such as creator, timestamp, or edition. This enables frame-accurate citations, reproducible video processing, and reliable synchronization when combining material from multiple sources.

Applications include digital archives, film restoration, documentary production, and research datasets in digital humanities, where precise frame-level provenance is important.
