ITStrukturer refers to the organization, architecture, and governance of information technology resources within an organization. It encompasses the design, deployment, operation, and evolution of IT assets and their relationships to support business objectives. A coherent IT structure aims to balance agility and control by defining how hardware, software, data, networks, and services are planned and managed across the enterprise.

It typically covers infrastructure layers (hardware, networks, platforms), data and application architecture, middleware, security, and operations. It also includes the organizational structures and processes that govern IT, such as architecture reviews, budgeting, and service management. Common goals are interoperability, scalability, reliability, cost efficiency, and risk management, achieved through standards, patterns, and reference models.

Several frameworks are used to guide ITStrukturer work, including enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman), IT governance (COBIT), and IT service management (ITIL). Cloud and hybrid environments introduce governance models for cost, security, and data locality. The design should align IT capabilities with business strategy, often via architecture roadmaps, portfolio management, and stakeholder governance bodies.

Common challenges include legacy systems, data silos, vendor lock-in, cybersecurity threats, and regulatory compliance. Success depends on clear ownership, phased transition plans, ongoing governance, and strong change management.
