ISOENANSI is a proposed framework intended to harmonize and streamline standards development among ISO, EN, and ANSI. The concept envisions a unified approach to conformity assessment, terminology, and revision cycles to reduce duplicative certification for products and services and to facilitate cross-border trade.

In scope, ISOENANSI would maintain a central registry of harmonized standards, a shared framework for evaluating conformity, and mechanisms for cross-recognition of certifications. Proponents argue it would simplify compliance for manufacturers, especially in sectors with global supply chains, such as electronics, machinery, and consumer products. Critics warn that it could complicate national sovereignty over safety and environmental rules and might privilege larger economies.

History and status: The idea emerged in policy discussions during the late 2010s, supported by some industry groups and regional standards bodies, but it has not been adopted as an official international policy. Pilot efforts and white papers have explored governance models, including a possible council composed of representatives from ISO member bodies, European standardization organizations, and ANSI, along with liaison to IEC and other stakeholders.

As a concept, ISOENANSI remains a hypothetical framework rather than a formal organization. If realized, it could affect licensing, product testing, and regulatory compliance by offering a unified reference and reducing redundant audits, while requiring careful management of sovereignty, fairness, and technical diversity.
