Házisztráng

Házisztráng, which translates to "house sparrow" in English, is the common name for a species of bird, Passer domesticus. This small, seed-eating bird is a member of the sparrow family Passeridae. It is one of the most widely distributed and abundant wild birds in the world, found in virtually every inhabited region of the globe.

Házisztráng are typically characterized by their relatively short legs, stout bills, and streaky brown and grey plumage. Males are generally more brightly colored than females, with a black bib on their throat and chest, grey crown, and chestnut nape. Females are a more uniform dull brown and grey. They are social birds, often seen in flocks, especially outside the breeding season.

These birds are highly adaptable and have a close association with human habitation, hence their name. They commonly nest in and around buildings, in eaves, holes in walls, and birdhouses. Their diet primarily consists of seeds and grains, but they are also opportunistic feeders and will consume insects, fruits, and scraps of food provided by humans.
