Business Acceptance Testing (BAT) focuses on whether the software aligns with business objectives and processes. Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT) checks the readiness of the system for deployment and ongoing operation, including aspects like performance, security, and backup procedures. Alpha and Beta testing are also forms of acceptance testing, with alpha testing conducted internally by a select group and beta testing by a wider external audience.

Successful acceptance testing provides confidence that the software is ready for release and minimizes the risk of post-deployment issues. It is a collaborative effort, bridging the gap between development and the end-user, and plays a vital role in delivering high-quality software.
