Hydrocoel
Hydrocoel refers to a rare and benign condition characterized by the accumulation of serous fluid within the tunica vaginalis, the sac that encloses the testis. It is essentially a type of hydrocele, but the term hydrocoel is sometimes used specifically in certain contexts. The tunica vaginalis is a double-layered membrane that is a remnant of the peritoneum, which descends with the testis during fetal development. Normally, only a small amount of lubricating fluid is present between these layers. In a hydrocoel, this fluid volume increases significantly, causing the scrotum to swell.
