Huuhdeltavias is a hypothetical genus of extinct marine reptiles proposed by paleontologist Dr. Arlo Finch in 2018. The genus is based on fragmentary fossil remains discovered in the Late Cretaceous deposits of what is now North America. The name "Huuhdeltavias" is derived from ancient fictional languages and is intended to evoke a sense of mystery and antiquity associated with the fossil finds.

The type species, Huuhdeltavias mirabilis, is characterized by its unusually elongated skull and the presence of a unique, double-hinged jaw structure. This adaptation is theorized to have allowed for a specialized feeding strategy, possibly involving the engulfment of large prey or the manipulation of benthic organisms. The fossil material also suggests a moderately sized animal, estimated to be around 5 to 7 meters in length, with a streamlined body adapted for aquatic life.

Initial analyses placed Huuhdeltavias within the mosasauroid lineage, a group of marine lizards that dominated the oceans during the Late Cretaceous. However, its distinct anatomical features, particularly the cranial morphology, have led to ongoing debate regarding its precise phylogenetic position. Further discoveries and more complete skeletal remains are needed to definitively establish its evolutionary relationships and ecological role within the Cretaceous marine ecosystem. The scientific community generally views Huuhdeltavias as an intriguing example of convergent evolution or a highly specialized offshoot within the mosasauroid radiation, awaiting more conclusive evidence.
