Hulu

Hulu is an American streaming service offering a mix of on-demand video and live television. It provides ad-supported and ad-free on-demand plans and, in some markets, a live-TV option called Hulu + Live TV. The service is operated by Hulu LLC, a joint venture primarily owned by The Walt Disney Company with NBCUniversal as a minority investor. Hulu launched in 2007 as a streaming platform for TV shows and films.

Hulu's on-demand library includes current and classic television series, films, and a growing slate of original programming. Plans include Hulu with Ads, Hulu without Ads, and, where available, Hulu + Live TV. Live TV offers access to broadcast and cable channels, with a cloud DVR, and simultaneous streams across multiple devices.

Notable Hulu Originals include The Handmaid's Tale, Only Murders in the Building, and The Bear. The service also licenses content from networks, studios, and distributors, making it a central part of Disney's streaming strategy.

Hulu is primarily available in the United States and Japan, with limited international availability. It supports many devices, including smart TVs, streaming devices (Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV, Chromecast), game consoles, and web browsers.

Originally created by NBCUniversal and News Corporation, Hulu became a joint venture subsequently controlled by Disney after acquiring Fox assets. Comcast's NBCUniversal remains a stakeholder, with ongoing licensing arrangements. The service competes with other streaming platforms such as Netflix and Prime Video.
