Hoselines
Hoselines are lengths of flexible fire hose used to convey water from a source to a fire scene. They are a core element of firefighting tactics, enabling firefighters to apply water or other extinguishing agents directly to the fire. A hoseline consists of the hose, a nozzle at the discharge end, and couplings on the opposite end to connect to water sources or other lines.
Two main categories are commonly described: attack lines and supply lines. Attack lines are smaller-diameter hoses
Construction and materials: most hoses have an inner lining that carries water, a reinforced jacket, and end
Operation: to deploy, firefighters connect the hose to a water source, charge the line with water, and
Maintenance and standards: hose lines are inspected after use and periodically tested. Fire departments follow standards
