Hobbitfilmek refers to the film adaptations of J.R.R. Tolkien's novel "The Hobbit". The primary films are Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit" trilogy, released between 2012 and 2014. This trilogy consists of "An Unexpected Journey", "The Desolation of Smaug", and "The Battle of the Five Armies". These films serve as prequels to Jackson's earlier "The Lord of the Rings" film trilogy.

The story follows Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit who is persuaded by the wizard Gandalf to join a company of dwarves on a quest to reclaim their homeland from the dragon Smaug. The films expand upon the relatively brief novel, incorporating elements from Tolkien's appendices and other writings to create a more extensive narrative. This expansion includes the introduction of new characters and subplots, such as the growing animosity between Thorin Oakenshield and the elves of Mirkwood, and the unfolding events in Dol Guldur involving Gandalf.

"The Hobbit" trilogy was filmed in New Zealand using digital cameras at a higher frame rate (48 frames per second) than typical films, aiming for greater visual clarity and detail. The production faced various challenges, including the initial director change and the decision to expand the story into three films. Despite mixed critical reception, particularly regarding pacing and the extent of expansion, the films were commercially successful, grossing over a billion dollars worldwide. They are a significant part of the cinematic interpretation of Tolkien's Middle-earth.
