Hiljutised, also known as "silent films" or "silent movies," refer to films without synchronized recorded sound. This period in film history spans from the mid-1890s to the late 1920s, when silent films were the dominant form of cinematic expression. The term "silent film" is somewhat misleading, as these movies were often accompanied by live music, sound effects, and sometimes narration or dialogue, either by a single performer or a group of performers.
