Hessische

Hessische is an adjective and form used to refer to things connected with Hesse (Hessen), a central German state. It appears in official names and titles in feminine or plural form, for example Hessische Landesregierung (state government) or Hessische Hochschule. In English, Hessian is sometimes used for a person or the dialect, but in German the standard forms relate to Hessen and Hessinnen/Hessen.

Hesse lies in central Germany. It borders North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony, Thuringia, Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate.

Historically, the region was ruled by several states, including the Landgraviate of Hesse and the Electorate
