Heijastajat

Heijastajat, or "reflectors" in Finnish, are a type of military equipment designed to enhance the visibility of vehicles, structures, or personnel on the battlefield. They are primarily used to improve the effectiveness of infrared (IR) and laser-based targeting systems, which are commonly employed by modern weaponry. The term originates from the Finnish military context, where such devices have been integrated into various tactical applications.

Heijastajat work by reflecting incoming infrared or laser signals back toward their source, effectively "painting" the target with a detectable signature. This makes the target more conspicuous to sensors, such as those used in night vision or guided munitions. In Finnish military doctrine, these devices have been deployed on armored vehicles, artillery pieces, and even individual soldiers to counter threats from precision-guided weapons.

The use of heijastajat is particularly relevant in asymmetric warfare, where one side may lack advanced targeting technology. By making their own forces more visible to enemy sensors, defenders can exploit the enemy’s reliance on guided munitions, forcing them to rely on less precise, traditional firepower.
