Heianky

Heianky is a fictional coastal city created for urban-planning simulations and speculative fiction. It is set on the western shore of the Emerald Sea, in a temperate, mid-latitude region. The city covers roughly 600 square kilometers and supports an estimated population of 1.2 million. Its landscape combines waterfront districts, rolling hills, and a river valley that shapes its transportation network.

Heianky's history begins in the medieval period with maritime merchants. It grew as a regional trading hub after canal construction and rail links in the 19th century, later diversifying into manufacturing and services. In the 21st century it embraced sustainable development, renewable energy, and a digital economy, making logistics, finance, and education major pillars of the economy.

The city is governed by a municipal council led by a mayor. It is divided into 15 districts with autonomous neighborhood councils. Public infrastructure emphasizes sustainable transit: an integrated metro system, light rail, bus rapid transit, extensive bicycle lanes, and a ferry network.
