Hausnotrufsystem

A Hausnotrufsystem, often translated as a personal alarm system or emergency call system, is a device designed to provide immediate assistance in case of an emergency. These systems are particularly beneficial for elderly individuals, people with chronic illnesses, or those living alone who may be at a higher risk of falls or medical emergencies.

The typical setup involves a base station, usually connected to a telephone line or a mobile network, and a wearable transmitter, commonly a pendant or wristband. The transmitter has a button that, when pressed, sends a distress signal to the base station. The base station then automatically contacts a pre-programmed emergency contact or a dedicated monitoring center.

Upon receiving the signal, the monitoring center or contact can communicate with the user via a built-in speaker and microphone on the base station to assess the situation. If necessary, they can dispatch emergency services such as an ambulance or alert family members or neighbors. Many modern systems also include automatic fall detection, which can trigger an alarm even if the user is unable to press the button themselves. These systems are designed to offer a sense of security and independence for vulnerable individuals.
