Hathayogan
Hathayoga is a traditional yoga practice that focuses on physical postures (asana) and breath control (pranayama). The term "Hatha" itself is derived from two Sanskrit words: "ha" meaning sun and "tha" meaning moon. This duality is often interpreted as representing the balance of opposing energies within the body and mind. Hathayoga aims to purify the body and calm the mind, preparing the practitioner for deeper meditative states.
The practice typically involves a sequence of poses held for a period, coordinated with breathing exercises.
Hathayoga is considered a foundational style of yoga, and many modern yoga forms have evolved from it.
