Hartaalla is a fictional municipality in Eldoria, situated in the northern highlands. It covers about 72 square kilometers and is characterized by a central valley crossed by the Harta River. The surrounding landscape includes mixed forests, meadows, and small farms. The climate is temperate and oceanic, with cool winters, mild summers, and frequent rainfall.

History: The area has been settled since the early medieval period. Hartaalla received municipal rights in the 1830s and was formally incorporated as a municipality in 1920. The town developed around agriculture and forestry, with a small artisan and timber-processing sector emerging in the 20th century. In recent decades it has pursued sustainable development and rural tourism.

Economy and infrastructure: The local economy relies on dairy farming, crop production, and small-scale manufacturing. A market square serves as the social and commercial hub. Hartaalla is connected by regional roads; there is no railway station in the town, with the nearest line and services located in a neighboring community about 12 to 15 kilometers away. Public services include a primary school, a clinic, and a municipal library.

Demographics and culture: As of 2023, the municipality has roughly 4,800 residents. The population is predominantly aging, with a median age in the late 40s. Local culture centers on the Harvest Festival in September, a winter market, and a small community theater. Local cuisine emphasizes dairy products, rye bread, mushrooms collected from nearby forests, and locally produced cheese.
