Happokäsittely

Happokäsittely, often translated as acid treatment or acid wash, is a chemical process used in various industrial and practical applications. Its primary function is to remove unwanted substances, particularly oxides and scale, from metal surfaces. This is commonly achieved by immersing the metal in an acidic solution, such as hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid. The acid reacts with the oxide layer, dissolving it and leaving the underlying metal clean.

In metallurgy, happokäsittely is a crucial step in the preparation of metals for further processing, such as galvanizing, plating, or painting. It ensures a clean surface for optimal adhesion of subsequent coatings.
