Hahmolomakkeet

Hahmolomakkeet are structured documents used to document fictional or fictionalized characters for creative or educational purposes. The term is a compound of hahmo (character) and lomake (form) in Finnish. They are used in writing, theatre, film development, role-playing games, and classroom assignments to organize essential character information.

Their purpose is to provide quick reference, ensure consistency across scenes or game sessions, and support collaboration among writers, designers, teachers and players.

A typical hahmolomake includes fields such as name, age, gender, appearance, personality traits, backstory, goals and motivations, abilities or powers, equipment and resources, relationships, affiliations, a timeline of key events, and notes on flaws or conflicts.

Templates vary widely by context. Narrative oriented templates emphasize storytelling aspects, while game oriented forms may include mechanical stats and options.

In Finland, hahmolomakkeet are common in school projects, fan communities and tabletop role-playing groups. They can exist as printed sheets or digital forms, and are sometimes part of broader writing or game management software.
