Haarautumispisteet, or hair follicles, are small, tubular structures in the skin that house the hair shaft and the sebaceous gland. They are responsible for the growth, maintenance, and shedding of hair. Each hair follicle goes through a cycle of growth, regression, and rest, which typically lasts about 2 to 6 years. During the anagen phase, the hair grows actively. This is followed by the catagen phase, where the hair stops growing and prepares to shed. The telogen phase is the resting phase, where the hair remains in the follicle until it is shed. The cycle then repeats.
