Granulatfilters

Granulatfilters are a type of filtration system that utilizes granular media to remove impurities from fluids. These filters are commonly employed in various industrial and municipal applications for water treatment, air purification, and process filtration. The granular media, which can consist of materials like sand, anthracite, activated carbon, or specialized resins, are contained within a vessel.

The filtration process begins when the fluid enters the filter bed. As the fluid percolates through the layers of granular media, solid particles, suspended matter, and other contaminants are trapped within the media's pore spaces. The effectiveness of a granulatfilter depends on factors such as the type and size of the granular media, the flow rate of the fluid, and the depth of the filter bed.

Over time, the granular media becomes saturated with trapped impurities, leading to an increase in pressure drop across the filter. To restore the filter's efficiency, a process called backwashing is performed. During backwashing, the direction of fluid flow is reversed, and a higher flow rate is used to agitate and flush out the accumulated contaminants from the media. This cleaned media is then ready for further filtration cycles. Granulatfilters offer advantages such as high filtration capacity, robustness, and relatively low operating costs, making them a widely adopted solution for many separation challenges.
