Gozzis

Gozzis are a fictional species of small, arboreal mammals described in world-building and speculative fiction. They are said to be endemic to the Gozza Islands, a tropical archipelago located in the southern seas. The species is characterized by a compact body, dense multi-colored fur, large rounded ears, and a long prehensile tail used for grasping branches. Adults generally weigh about 0.8 to 1.5 kilograms and measure 25 to 35 centimeters in body length, with tails of similar length.

Gozzis inhabit primary rainforest and mangrove edge habitats, moving through the canopy and understory. They are omnivorous, feeding on fruits, seeds, flowers, leaves, and small invertebrates. They are described as diurnal and highly social, living in multi-generational groups of six to twenty individuals. Communication relies on a repertoire of chirps, trills, and scent markings, and they are noted for cooperative foraging and mutual grooming.

Reproduction in the fictional account occurs once a year during the early rainy season. Females typically give birth to one or two offspring after a gestation period of about 50 to 60 days. Young remain with the group for several months to develop socially and physically.
