Golyóscsapok, also known as ball valves, are a type of quarter-turn valve that uses a hollow, pivoting ball to control fluid flow. The ball has a hole drilled through it, and when the handle is turned 90 degrees, the hole aligns with the pipe, allowing flow. When the handle is turned perpendicular to the pipe, the hole is blocked, stopping the flow. This simple yet effective mechanism makes them popular for various industrial and domestic applications.

Ball valves are known for their durability, ease of operation, and ability to provide a tight seal. They can handle high pressures and a wide range of temperatures, making them suitable for applications involving liquids, gases, and slurries. The quarter-turn operation means they can be opened or closed quickly, which is advantageous in situations requiring rapid shut-off.
