Glödershuffling is a unique and innovative method of shuffling cards, named after its creator, the German magician and mathematician, Karl Fulves. The technique is notable for its simplicity and effectiveness in producing a thoroughly shuffled deck. The process involves a series of steps that ensure randomness and uniformity in the distribution of cards.

The glödershuffling method begins with a standard deck of 52 cards. The deck is divided into two equal halves, each containing 26 cards. The top half is placed on top of the bottom half, creating a new stack. This process is repeated several times, typically 7 to 10 times, depending on the desired level of randomness. Each repetition is known as a "cut" or "glöder."

The key to glödershuffling lies in the precise manner in which the halves are combined. After each cut, the top half is placed on top of the bottom half, but with a slight offset. This offset ensures that the cards are not simply interspersed but are instead distributed in a more random pattern. The number of cards in the offset can vary, but a common practice is to use an offset of 1 card for each cut.

The result of glödershuffling is a deck that is well-shuffled, with a high degree of randomness. The method is particularly effective for its simplicity and the fact that it does not require any special equipment or techniques.
