Glotlale

Glotlale is a constructed language designed for linguistic experimentation and worldbuilding. It emphasizes glottalization in its phonation and uses an agglutinative grammar, making it a common subject of study in conlang communities and for storytelling in fictional cultures.

Phonology: The sound system features a modest consonant inventory with phonemic glottal stops, and vowels a, e, i, o, u. Syllables are typically (C)(C)V(C), and stress tends to fall on the penultimate syllable. Glottal stops frequently occur at morpheme boundaries and within hiatus, contributing to a distinctive phonetic texture.

Grammar and syntax: Glotlale follows a mainly analytic, albeit agglutinative, pattern. The basic word order is SVO, with adjectives and modifiers following the nouns. Nouns inflect for case (nominative, accusative, dative, genitive) and number. Verbs encode aspect and evidential mood through affixes, while tense is indicated by per-phrase markers. The language includes inclusive and exclusive pronoun contrasts in the first person and a formal/informal distinction in the second person.

Writing system: The primary orthography is a Latin-based script augmented with diacritics to mark glottalization and, where relevant, vowel length. An IPA transcription is commonly provided in linguistic descriptions and supplementary materials.
