Gewanne

Gewanne is a term used in German-speaking countries to designate a field-like land unit within a cadastral area. It denotes a defined portion of landscape used for agricultural purposes, often bounded by hedges, ditches, streams, or roads. A Gewann may contain one or more fields and is typically named after local features or historical ownership. In land registries, Gewanne are described within a Gemarkung and Flur and can be subdivided into smaller parcels (Parzellen or Stücke) for ownership, taxation, or farming management.
