Core ideas include representing objects by coordinates, shapes, and their arrangements in space; using distance, angle, and incidence relationships; and exploiting structures such as meshes, graphs, and manifolds. Geometric-based approaches can be applied in Euclidean settings or in non-Euclidean geometries when appropriate.

In data analysis and machine learning, geometric-based methods underpin geometric deep learning and manifold learning, where data are assumed to lie on or near geometric manifolds. They emphasize interpretability and invariance to certain transformations but may be sensitive to noise and can struggle with very high-dimensional data.
