It emphasizes that conscious emotional life cannot be fully understood by separating subjective feelings from underlying affective dynamics.

Definition and scope: The concept treats Gefühle and affect as mutually constitutive rather than strictly separable; it encompasses immediate appraisal, bodily arousal, valence, and the social situation that shapes feeling states. In practice, a Gefühleaffect may be a moment of intense, multi-layered experience in which cognition, bodily sensation, and affective tone align.

Usage and implications: Advocates see it as a tool to capture everyday emotional life in therapy, qualitative research, and design, where users' feelings and their affective responses inform behavior.
