Gallicolumba
Gallicolumba is a genus of doves in the family Columbidae. These birds are commonly known as ground doves. The genus is native to the Philippines and is characterized by its ground-dwelling habits and often striking plumage. The most well-known species is probably the Luzon bleeding-heart, Gallicolumba luzonica, which has a distinctive bright red patch on its breast, giving it the appearance of being wounded.
Ground doves are typically found in forests and woodlands, where they forage for seeds, fruits, and insects
Several species of Gallicolumba are facing significant threats to their survival, primarily due to habitat loss
