GPUene

GPUene is a fictional family of graphics processing units used in educational and speculative discussions about GPU design. It is not a real product line, but a conceptual model intended to illustrate how modern GPUs balance compute, memory, and power under representative workloads.

The core idea behind GPUene is a scalable array of compute clusters, each containing multiple streaming multiprocessors, interconnected by a high-bandwidth fabric. The design emphasizes energy efficiency, latency hiding, and a unified memory space to simplify programming across large numbers of cores. It is intended to support graphics rendering, general-purpose GPU compute, artificial intelligence workloads, and ray tracing.

In the GPUene architecture, a modular SM-like unit provides SIMD execution, with an emphasis on coarse-grained parallelism and fine-grained scheduling.
