GAZ3102

The GAZ-3102, often referred to as the Volga 3102, is a Soviet and Russian passenger car produced by the Gorky Automobile Plant (GAZ) from 1981 to 2010. It was intended as a more prestigious and modern successor to the GAZ-24 Volga, featuring a distinctive, more angular body style. While sharing some components with its predecessor, the GAZ-3102 incorporated significant upgrades in terms of comfort, safety, and technology for its time.

Initially, the GAZ-3102 was primarily produced for official use by Soviet government agencies and the KGB, distinguishing it from the more common GAZ-31029 and later civilian versions. This exclusivity contributed to its image as a high-status vehicle. Over its long production run, the GAZ-3102 saw several updates and modifications. These included changes to the engine options, interior appointments, and exterior trim. Notably, it was offered with different gasoline engines, and in later years, some diesel engines became available.

The GAZ-3102's design, while evolving, maintained a certain executive car aesthetic. Its robust construction was typical of Volga models, designed for durability and often used in harsh conditions. Despite its extended production, the car's fundamental design remained largely unchanged for much of its life, reflecting the Soviet and early Russian automotive industry's approach to model development. Its production ceased in 2010, marking the end of an era for this iconic, albeit somewhat dated, Soviet-era automobile.
