Gümnaasiumitasemel

Gümnaasiumitasemel refers to the educational level in Estonia that follows basic school and precedes higher education. It is equivalent to high school or gymnasium in many other countries. The gümnaasium level typically spans three years, from grade 10 to grade 12, for students aged approximately 16 to 18.

The primary goal of gümnaasiumitasemel education is to provide students with a broader and deeper general education, preparing them for either university studies or vocational training. Students are generally expected to choose between a general academic track, which focuses on subjects like mathematics, sciences, languages, and social sciences, or a more specialized track, often with an emphasis on arts, sports, or specific vocational skills, though the latter is less common for the traditional gümnaasium.
