Fönsterlarm

Fönsterlarm, often translated as window alarm, is a type of security device designed to detect the opening or breaking of a window. These alarms are typically installed on the window frame or the glass itself.

There are several common types of fönsterlarm. Magnetic contact alarms are popular. These consist of two parts: a magnet and a switch. When the window is closed, the magnet keeps the switch closed. If the window is opened, the magnet is moved away from the switch, breaking the circuit and triggering an alarm. Another type is a vibration sensor alarm. These devices detect the vibrations caused by attempted forced entry, such as a window being hit or broken. Some fönsterlarm also include glass break detectors that specifically listen for the sound frequency of breaking glass.

When triggered, a fönsterlarm typically emits a loud audible siren to deter intruders and alert occupants or neighbors. Many modern fönsterlarm are also connected to a central security system, which can notify a professional monitoring service or the homeowner directly via a smartphone app.

The primary purpose of a fönsterlarm is to enhance home or building security by providing an early warning of unauthorized entry through windows. They are a common component of broader home security systems, often used in conjunction with door alarms and motion detectors.
