Féknyomást

Féknyomást is a Hungarian term that translates to "brake pressure" in English. It refers to the hydraulic pressure generated within the braking system of a vehicle when the brake pedal is depressed. This pressure is what ultimately forces the brake pads or shoes to engage with the rotors or drums, creating friction and slowing down or stopping the vehicle.

The féknyomást is typically created by the master cylinder, which is operated by the brake pedal. As the pedal is pushed down, a piston within the master cylinder forces brake fluid through the brake lines. This fluid, being largely incompressible, transmits the applied force uniformly throughout the system. The amount of féknyomást generated is directly proportional to the force applied to the brake pedal and the mechanical advantage of the braking system.

Modern vehicles often incorporate anti-lock braking systems (ABS) and electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) that actively modulate féknyomást to prevent wheel lock-up and optimize braking performance under various conditions.
