Funktionapproximation is a fundamental concept in mathematics and computer science that involves finding a simpler function that closely resembles a more complex or unknown function. This process is essential when dealing with functions that are difficult to compute directly, are only known at discrete points, or when a less precise but computationally cheaper representation is desired.

The goal of function approximation is to minimize the difference between the original function and the approximating function over a specified domain. Various methods exist for achieving this, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. Common techniques include polynomial interpolation, where a polynomial is fitted to pass through a set of known data points. Another widely used approach is least squares approximation, which seeks to minimize the sum of the squared differences between the function values and the approximating function.
