Fullsuits

Fullsuits are one-piece garments designed to cover the body from the neck to the wrists and ankles. The term is used in several contexts—water sports, fashion, and industrial safety—where the garment’s purpose ranges from insulation and protection to aesthetics and performance.

In water sports, fullsuits often refer to wetsuits or drysuits. Wetsuits are typically made of neoprene and provide thermal insulation through trapped water and body heat, with thickness from about 2 to 5 millimeters. Drysuits keep the wearer dry and are used in cold or hazardous water, sealing at the neck, wrists, and ankles with seals and gaskets. In fashion and performance wear, bodysuits or unitards are tight-fitting, one-piece garments made from stretch materials such as lycra, spandex, or cotton blends, worn alone or layered.

Industrial and safety contexts use full-body suits such as coveralls or hazmat suits to protect against dirt, chemicals, or biological hazards. Construction, healthcare, and laboratory settings employ different levels of protection, often standardized by safety regulations. Design features commonly include durable seams, front or back closures, reinforced knees, and options for insulation, waterproofing, or chemical resistance. Fit and sizing emphasize mobility and layerability.
