Frihedsrådet

Frihedsrådet, also known as the Freedom Council, is a Danish non-governmental organization founded in 1979. The organization's primary objective is to promote peace activism, concrete non-violent civil disobedience, and human rights. Frihedsrådet was established in response to the ongoing codetermination negotiations in Denmark, aiming to prevent the militarization of Greenland and protect Greenlandic autonomy.

One of the primary focuses of Frihedsrådet is to coordinate the movement against nuclear weapons and the Danish military's involvement in NATO. The organization encourages citizens to participate in public activities and demonstrations, employing non-violent direct action to occupy institutions, get arrested, or take care of security emergencies. Through such actions, Frihedsrådet contributes to the public debate on militarism, human rights, and pacifism.

Frihedsrådet's leadership is appointed through the organization's annual in-house election, with a party leader to be elected by the entire membership.
