Fordøyelsesprøver, also known as digestive tests, are a group of medical examinations used to evaluate the function and health of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. These tests help diagnose a wide range of conditions affecting the stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas, and gallbladder. They can identify problems such as malabsorption, inflammation, infections, blockages, and abnormalities in digestive enzyme production.

Common types of digestive tests include blood tests, stool tests, breath tests, and imaging procedures. Blood tests can check for markers of inflammation, infection, or organ dysfunction. Stool tests analyze fecal matter for blood, parasites, bacteria, fat content, or undigested food, providing insights into digestion and absorption. Endoscopy, which involves inserting a flexible tube with a camera into the GI tract, allows for direct visualization of the lining and can also be used to obtain tissue samples (biopsies) for further analysis.
