Footmen
Footmen are male domestic workers who perform a range of service tasks in a household or establishment. Traditionally they were among the senior male attendants in aristocratic and royal households, often serving under a butler. Responsibilities included opening doors for guests, carrying luggage, pulling out chairs, serving at table, and assisting guests in and out of carriages or vehicles. In larger households, footmen also attended entrances, supervised hallways, and provided security during events. They were typically required to wear liveried uniforms, reflecting status, and their duties evolved with changes in etiquette and technology.
