Flyveskole

Flyveskole is the Danish term for a flight school, an educational institution that provides aviation training to aspiring pilots and other aviation personnel. In many countries, flight schools operate under national aviation authorities and, in Europe, follow EASA regulations. A flyveskole typically combines ground school, simulator sessions, and flight instruction to prepare students for licensing and ratings.

Training programs and licenses: The core pathway starts with a private pilot license (PPL), allowing the holder to fly privately. Many students then pursue a commercial pilot license (CPL) and, ultimately, an airline transport pilot license (ATPL). Additional ratings such as instrument (IR) and multi-engine (ME), as well as type ratings for specific aircraft, are offered. Training may be provided via modular programs (credit-for-hours and time-flexible) or integrated programs (full-time tracks).

Entry requirements and process: Applicants generally must meet minimum age and medical standards, have basic language proficiency, pass theory exams, and accumulate flight hours. Training combines theory classes with flight hours in light training aircraft, often supported by simulators. Instructors are certified flight instructors (CFI) or equivalent.

Outcomes and career paths: A PPL enables private flying; a CPL allows paid flight work and, with sufficient flight time and an ATPL, eligibility to work as airline pilots. Graduates may continue training, switch to instructor roles, or pursue further ratings.

Facilities and safety: Flyveskole operate fleets of training aircraft, simulators, briefing rooms, and maintenance support. Safety is governed by regulatory frameworks and internal safety management systems, emphasizing risk assessment and standard operating procedures.
