Floatanturit

Floatanturit, often translated as "float sensors" or "level sensors," are devices used to detect the level of a liquid within a container. Their fundamental principle of operation relies on buoyancy. A float, typically made of a material less dense than the liquid being measured, rises or falls with the liquid's surface. This movement is then translated into an electrical signal.

There are several common types of floatanturit. One basic design uses a magnetic reed switch. As the float rises, it moves a magnet past the switch, closing or opening an electrical circuit. Another type utilizes a mechanical switch connected to the float's arm. When the float reaches a certain height, it actuates the switch. More advanced floatanturit may incorporate potentiometers or other sensors to provide a continuous analog reading of the liquid level, rather than just a high or low indication.

Floatanturit find widespread application across various industries. They are commonly employed in domestic appliances such as washing machines and dishwashers to control water fill levels. In industrial settings, they are used in fuel tanks, water treatment plants, and chemical processing to monitor and regulate liquid volumes. Their simplicity, reliability, and relatively low cost make them a popular choice for many level-sensing applications. However, they can be susceptible to fouling or sticking in viscous liquids or environments with debris.
