Fixedpattern

Fixedpattern is a term used to describe a pattern that remains unchanged across time, samples, or conditions. The concept is used in several disciplines to refer to recurring, invariant arrangements of data elements, features, or signals. Fixedpatterns can act as references, constraints, or artifacts in analysis.

In digital imaging and sensor systems, fixed-pattern is often discussed in relation to fixed-pattern noise (FPN), a stable, repeatable variation in pixel response that appears as a constant pattern in images. FPN arises from nonuniform pixel sensitivities and readout circuitry, and it is commonly addressed through calibration methods such as flat-field correction and dark-frame subtraction.
