Firtzéskorszak

The term itself is a pejorative, combining "firtzés," a slang term for a superficial or showy individual, with "korszak," meaning era or period. It suggests an age where outward appearances and imported trends overshadowed genuine national values and traditions.

While not a formally defined historical period, Firtzéskorszak is used by some historians and cultural critics to describe a time when Hungarian society, especially its urban elite, was seen as overly influenced by Western European, particularly German and Austrian, cultural norms and social customs.
